The Fish You Will Catch Aboard the Hook Up
Red Drum Red Drum
Jigs work well for all size drum. Ocean fishing 2-3 oz no bait. Also spoons also works well for big drum. Hammered Hopkins is the Captains favorite. Small drum or yearlings you can use jigs or cut bait. Average weight is 3-50 Ibs.
 
Cobia Cobia
Casting jigs with a squid strip are used to catch cobia. Also twister tails work well on jigs. Average weight 20-40 Ibs. Not unusual to see Cobia over 70 Ibs
 
Speckled Trout Speckled Trout
Normally caught in the sound using 1/4 or 3/8 oz jig head with different colored twister tales. Weight averages 1-4 Ibs. Captain's favorite - Chartreuse twister.
 
Striper Ocean Stripers
Can be caught using sassy shad, spoons and jigs. They run between 20 - 50 lbs. and sometimes larger. December 1 - February 15 . Birds flying over large schools of fish are referred to as bee hives raining out of the sky. I hope this makes sense as Rudy say is it true.
 
Striper Sound Stripers
Sound stripers are 1 - 15 Ibs and stay around the structures, bridges and bad bottom. We have the equipment to find these spots. Sound stripers are normally caught from October 1 - December 30. A great catch for the avid fisherman.
 
Gray Trout Gray Trout
Caught in the ocean and sound with buck tail and jig head with twister tail.
 
Flounder Flounder
Caught drifting the channel. Captain's favorite Mahi-Mahi belly strips.
 
Bluefish Blue Fish
Easy catch with almost any artificial or cut bait. Great fighter and lots of fun to catch.
 
Spanish Mackeral Spanish Mackeral
Spanish mackeral are a summer time fish that is great eating on the grill and are fun to catch. Kids love the action! They range from 1 -5 Ibs. and are mainly trolling and casting.
 
King Mackeral King Mackeral
King Mackeral are a schooling species offish that are found in the green water during the cooler time of the year. They are a blast to live bait as well as trolling.
 
Black Drum Black Drum
Black Drum are caught on artificial and cut bait.
 
Albacore Albacore
Found in the ocean and around the mouth of the inlets. Excellent fighting fish on light tackle. Caught on 3/4 -1 oz spoon.
